About Me Licensed in NY and IOWA, Deloria Berks is a psychotherapist (LCSW-R, MA), specializing in individual psychotherapy, OCD and Anxiety, and maintains a private practice in NYC. With over 20 years experience from business to clinical practice, a graduate of Fordham University, and additional post-grad clinical training with the William Alanson White Institute, the National Institute for Psychotherapies, the Manhattan Institute for Psychoanalysis, and the Center for Self Leadership, she is currently working with a broad spectrum of clients. Among her areas of expertise are: OCD, Anxiety, Depression, Life and Relationship Challenges, Trauma, Anger, and Stress Management. Deloria has significant training with several Institutes for Contemporary Psychoanalysis; and additionally, engaged in a long-term study of trauma with experts in the field. She completed training with the University of PA Anxiety Clinic for PTSD and OCD. She is trained in Exposure/Response Prevention treatment for OCD; and Exposure Therapy for PTSD. She is certified from NYS in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) and IFS (Internal Family Systems). Level 1 certification in AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy) with Diana Fosha, and 25 years of personal practice of Transcendental Meditation (TM) allows a therapeutic treatment that is both safe and secure. It is one that allows healing — a deeper exploration and transformational experience. Deloria is interactive with clients — she listens but actively engages with you in conversation. In addition to being a nurturing private therapist, Deloria formerly worked with the Jewish Board of Children and Family Services. She is skilled in contemporary cognitive techniques and has presented at conferences and to general audiences speaking on the topics of Substance Abuse and Stress Management. She has worked with numerous families in under-served communities and was the clinician for The Mental Health Treatment Study, a special research project launched by the Social Security Administration and Dartmouth University, in 26 cities around the nation, working with mentally ill and homeless populations in the NYC area. Deloria has also worked with in-patient clients at Good Samaritan Hospital Rehab for Substance Abuse, and with out-patient SA clients at New Directions in Brooklyn. Deloria’s therapeutic approach is primarily geared toward helping individuals uncover their true potential — discovering a life to celebrate — with understanding and tolerance. A life that increases Self Leadership. She believes in each client’s ability to grow and change; however, she is also attuned to the raw emotional experiences of the client — sensitive to areas of life that may not feel celebratory. She works with executives as well working with under-served communities. She also brings laughter into the work in a unique healing manner. She integrates complementary methodologies in a safe and healing therapeutic environment and offers a highly trained, personalized approach tailored to each client. Although over 25 years in NY, Deloria is originally from Dallas, Texas, and brings an authentic, “democratic” down-to-earth compassion to her work. Care and understanding of each individual increases personal Self-Energy and opens the possibility of fulfillment in life. Politically she hopes for a future moderate candidate that 55% of Americans CAN agree with who exhibits increased moral character, less division, and moderate healthy provisions for all. In merely having a desire, you already deserve its fruition.
